Three for the Globes

the golden globes are this sunday and we could not be more excited for the red carpet pre-show! the weekend of the globes has a special place in our hearts not only because it is our favorite red carpet show of the year, but it also reminds us of some very special memories we have shared with the skinny buddha and our fairy godmother.

when we were in grade school, the skinny buddha surprised us xmas morning by telling us that we were flying to la for the golden globes, staying at the beverly hilton (they are held there every year) and had passes to the red carpet.

most. amazing. xmas. surprise. ever.

we had a jaw-dropping, "pinch-me" weekend that included meeting everyone from the likes of george clooney, heath ledger, the cast of 24, (shows you the year this was) to catherine zeta jones and julia roberts. s might have been interviewed by e!'s giuliana rancic on what she loved about hugh grant and giuliana was hilarious when she told skinny buddha to call our step-dad so she could say hello when she found out he was back home in chicago watching for us on tv. she told us she wanted to find a nice guy like him someday (and she did!). we have loved giuliana ever since, she truly is as down to earth and fun as she is gorgeous (we love that she has become a chicago girl after marrying chicago-native bill rancic).

so in honor of our amazing memories of the globes and to what will be an amazing night of fashion on sunday, here are our picks for what we would love to see kate, taylor and giuliana wearing...

Tory Burch: Resort 2014 Collection

what do greece, the talented mr. ripley, morroco, white anemones, and nautical stripes all have in common?? as seen on tory burch's resort 2014 pinterest board, they all encompass some of the inspiration behind her latest collection for resort wear.

we. are. obsessed.

the combinations of white and navy (or lack of contrast at times with white-on-white), stripes and florals, tweed and canvas, tomboy flare and femininity leaves us wanting more and beyond excited to book a spring vacation.

Get Out Of Town

i don't know about you guys but the start of a new year (post holidaze) makes me want to plan one big trip...or five weekend getaways. it's truly when chicago is brrr, the coldest and something about it being post holidays always has me wanting to jet-set, even if it's for just 36 hours. something you may not know about me is that i love anything nautical (so much that my uncle boogie calls me "lady anchoress", and yes that is a word). anything nautical screams summer to me or just being somewhere warm in general, like florida. kate spade has the right idea and of course is reminding me to do just that... get out of town. now the real question is where to? i don't have enough saved up (yet) for italy, but i have dallas, la, or palm beach on my mind... that deborah lloyd has the right idea when it comes to a jaunt (and those anchors in the current collection) #stys #getoutoftown

Palm Trees, Unicorns, and Pineapples?

yes, please! i have had a major girl crush on rashida jones for awhile now but after seeing celeste and jesse forever (she both starred and co-wrote the screen-play, kind of a rock star), she definitely was put on my wish list of people to share a bottle of wine (or two) and have a dance party with...she is as equally beautiful as she is smart, clever and as c would say, "a total hoot!"

so of course, as girl crushes go, i've also fallen in love with her recent jewelry collaboration with danielle and jodie snyder, the sisters behind new york-based jewelry label dannijo, fine by dannijones. i love simple, delicate jewelry that i can wear everyday but also that i don't ever have to take off. this beautiful line was specifically designed to wear in bed, in the shower, in and out of everywhere...need i say more? 

as rashida told nymag, the pineapple charm is "meant to radiate the calm energy that lingers after a tropical vacation" and arrows, palm trees, and unicorns "a reminder to approach life with a childlike curiosity and optimism". what is there not to love about this? i also love that it is a sister collaboration with rashida as the third sister making it "dannijones." 

whether it's the coco, merv, or terhagen charms, which one are you adding to your list? being an aquarius, my birthday is next month, "merv" is going on my wishlist. i want to professionally ride unicorns like rashida...need to start somewhere.

alright, we are all guilty of the 'going to get in my best shape of my life' resolution. or at least WE definitely are. so that is why all three of us are making very realistic health resolutions this year ...otherwise we know none of them will actually happen. none of that unrealistic weight-loss goal sh*t.

s & k have always been great at getting to the gym. s is an avid runner as she has mentioned in past posts, while k & her hubs go to reform pilates 2-3 times per week AND get to the gym. while c tries very hard to balance work-social-life. it proves to be a wee bit more difficult for her (no this isn't just an excuse).

my husband gave me a pair of sorel boots for christmas and i have thrown them on every day since. they are a snow savior and they look great with everything from lulu to black skinny pants.

as our friend jamal says, i always have something on my head. i recently purchased this rabbit fur headband from edith hart and it's been a go to on my walks to work so i can stay warm, but also keep my curls on point (...and really who likes hat hair?!).

living in dc for majority of my adult life, i never had a need for a real winter coat. somehow i have managed to get by with just my jcrew cocoon coat...well one cold snowy night after work led me to 

north face on mich ave, totally worth every penny! (must have hood, it's an essential) :)

Ode to O.P. & Johannes

 

both o.p. & johannes's style and closet is dreamed of by all of us (#htys included). we've loved o.p. since she was on the city, even if she wasn't the nicest gal to whitney. she does that whole beautiful mean girl thing oh so well. and well, johannes... it takes any one with a set of eyes to know why we all l.o.v.e. him. we're (totally) envious because now they're engaged. separately and together - holy hotness. definitely the most stylish couple around (or so we all think).
