Deal Breaker

he might as well have told me he has a tattoo of jesus covering his a**, a crazy sexual fetish with stuffed animals or heck, that he lives with his parents still...but it wasn't any of these things.

it could not have been a better first date...great chemistry, conversation was easy, he was charming, fun, made me laugh...overall, it was everything you hope to have when you first meet someone. by the end of the dinner, i was already thinking about the second date. but then it happened. the deal breaker.

he is a smoker.

ugh, really?! my face said it all. for anyone that knows me, i am not one to hide how i feel, it's normally written all over my face.

so when he asked about date number 2, i had to break it to him in typical s fashion, "'not going to lie' smoking is a deal breaker, kind of a game changer, you're great but yea, smoking, not going to work for me..." after many relationships, numerous first dates, i know what i am capable of, i know what i want and a guy that takes a break for anything but a cup of a coffee or a great make out is not one i want to be dating. too harsh? ya know, i don't think so.

i am all for compromising in relationships and like to think i'm open minded but, BUT some things are just deal breakers. whatever those things are to you, make a list. no one is perfect but the perfect person for you will be.

so i received a text message this morning...game changer or deal breaker? we'll see...

Best Face Forward

who doesn't want to put their best face forward? also i am not opposed to being a convo starter by rocking certain pieces. my mom/ the skinny buddha sent me these the other day, which got me on the hunt for other pieces in this collection. i ended up finding the above on a+o's website and i fell in love. couldn't help but think of my iphone case that is pretty goofy, but after more than a year of having it.. it has taken a mind of it's own and people asking me to show them my eyes...

try to let your clothing do the talkin' ;) #stys

The Perfect T x3

summer is just around the corner... which means farmers markets, lakefront bike rides, sailing and festivals in just about every neighborhood (every weekend). until then, we have been on the search for the perfect t to layer with jeans & lightweight jackets for spring... and shorts & skirts for when summer arrives (fingers crossed that's sooner rather than later!). here are our picks...

i literally lived in these t shirts last season.
light weight and fit great. perfect for a hot summer day!

a white v neck tee and jeans is my go to...LNA's quality and fit is always perfect,
effortlessly casual :)

you are more likely to see me in a graphic tee than a plain tee. madewell makes my favorite ones. sometimes (most of the time) i buy the same one in two colors... easier for tee-rotation;)

C's 2nd Secret Weapon

i revealed my 1st secret weapon recently. on to my next...

if it's not a smoothie first thing, it's hot water with lemon nowadays. i used to just reach for my coffee right away, but i was finding myself with stomach aches and all around just not feeling right. i kept reading how beneficial adding lemon to hot water was for the mornings to help settle your tummy & aid digestion and now i can't seem to get enough. but my lemon weapon hasn't stopped there... read on to see where else i am using it...

1. especially, err, during that time of month a few unwanted blemishes pop up. my trick is to squeeze fresh lemon on the blemishes in the evening. by morning, the redness is gone.

2. like i mentioned above... i am pretty much addicted to hot water with lemon. maybe it's all in my head, but it really helps my digestive system, skin, and tummy. side wine note: this helps hang overs too!

3. just like i start the morning with lemon, if i know i won't be able to fall asleep as quickly as i'd like (due to a late night flywheel class)... i brew some chamoille tea and add lemon. apparently, it proves to help calmness. it's workin' for me...

p.s. this is one of my favorite kitchen appliances. helps get that hot water going first thing!

s's pick - 4.collective dress

i will likely pair this dress with a jcrew necklace, probably this one!

c's pick- lyric dress
you know those holiday dresses your mom would put you in when you were teeny tiny that were over priced, but photographed great? well if you know what i am talking about... this reminds me of a grown up version. i love the fitted top then the flare bottom!

All In The Weekender

yesterday we were saying how it's all in the handbag, but it's also all in the weekender. with each of our jobs, it's tough for us to take more off than a weekend so we're always seeking the perfect bag that can get us through a quick trip (or overnight). it's not easy finding one that will fit a ton, plus look cute while traveling... and also be friendly on your bank account. but lately, we've been finding a ton of options that we're taking a liking to-
1.
2.
3.
4.

we especially love the cuyana line because you can add a monogram of your choosing. always all in the details!

All In The Handbag

we've been fans of michelle williams since dawson's creek...and if we can look as fab as michelle does in louis vuitton's spring 2014 campaign, we want to make every single style of the new lv city bags ours! we'd stretch to say lv and michelle just made some fashion magic with this campaign... all without shoes on too. :) who knew fab, sophisticated and chic could be done so laid back well?

C's New Secret Weapon

after being sick three times this (never ending) winter, i am taking all of skinny buddha's advice and being as healthy as possible to keep my immune system in check and my natural energy going. my new secret weapon: coconut

this green smoothie i made this week is oh so delicious... no joke, i was shocked when i took my first sip. who knew spinach, banana, mango, almond milk, chia, and low fat coconut milk would hit the spot? well it sure did and i didn't even reach for a coffee after!

this body scrub is easy to do from home and only takes 5 ingredients. i am a sucker for fresh body scrub, but this is easier on my bank account. sea salt, raw sugar, coconut oil, sweet orange, and essential oil- you are ready to exfoliate and on the way to have your skin glowing. be sure to add all the ingredients with the largest proportion being sea salt, then top it off with the coconut oil. add 30 orange drops last and stir with a spoon of knife. voila!

this is a new adult beverage i will be testing out soon... champagne, coconut water, and a fruit juice of your choice- don't forget a pretty garnish! my go to coconut water: raw coco

don't underestimate the power of coconut. it's my new secret weapon...

Three For The Home

k's pick-
apple tv
w brought this home one day and i rolled my eyes - another electronic?
but, i have to admit, i fell in love immediately (as i do with all apple products).
fun to have photos scrolling, easy access to movies, tv shows, etc... and only $99!

s's pick-
capri blue candle in a jar
whether i'm alone or have company,
i always have my capri blue candles burning in my lil studio.

c's pick-
my bestie has me storing his butler's tray stand (a.k.a. using it!) while there isn't a place in his apt for it and now i can't imagine apt life without it. whether a butler's tray stand or bar cart- it's definitely an apartment/home essential!
