Three from the EF Collection

since the discovery of drd and adding the entire collection to our wishlists... we have been drawn to simple, easy to wear dainty jewels & diamonds. while on pinterest this week, we stumbled on ef collection. many of the pieces reminded us of drd, but of course they are a little different. here are three pieces from the collection that each of us are eying and planning to make ours...

c's pick
my cousin has this and i am always admiring it!
it's the perfect ring to stack or wear on it's own.

k's pick
diamond double disc bangle
i would throw this on everyday!

s's pick
partial diamond pyramid studs
i have these and these. i love simple, but
like i've mentioned before, i also love a lil' edge!

SJP #MANOLO

“The fact is, sometimes it’s really hard to walk in a single woman’s shoes. That’s why we need really special ones now and then, to make the walk a little more fun.”

"I've spent $40,000 on shoes and I have no place to live? I will literally be the old woman who lived in her shoes!"

"Oh my God! Do you know what these are? Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes! I thought these were an urban shoe myth!"

—Carrie Bradshaw

shoes. sarah jessica parker. manolo blahnik. need we say more? sjp has teamed up with george malkemus, president of manolo blahnik usa, in designing her own collection of shoes, purses and trenches, launching february 28th exclusively at nordstroms. could we be any more excited?! not a chance.

sjp told o magazine, "i didn’t want to do anything that says, ‘oh, these shoes are 2014.’ i want my shoes to be a part of the world for a long time to come." (and she most definitely has!) much like carrie bradshaw, sjp is a style icon for the ages and she has created a collection that is just as timeless.

43 days and counting...we will be first in line at nordstroms on february 28th!

Outstanding in the Field

 ^ oysters!

dining on a mountain, sea cave, island, or field? a restaurant without walls? yeah, we're down...

while watching the globes the other night, k's hubs showed us the instagram account for outstanding in the field. first off, you must follow them immediately. their photos are insanely amazing. secondly, be sure to join their email list so you can find out when they come to a city near you. the whole concept is something any foodie adventurist would appreciate. they are re-connecting diners with the land where their food comes from and honoring the farmers & food artisans who cultivate it. ingredients for the meal prepared are almost all local and they have a celebrated chef of the region prepare it. we're already hoping they come this summer to chicago...

grant achatz, anthony martin, rick bayless, or stephanie izard... we're keeping our fingers (and toes!) crossed for one of you to be the celebrated chef who prepares chicago's outstanding in the field meal.

Spring Fever?

did you get the spring fever bug like we did yesterday?? we know it was only 46 degrees but as chicago gals, it was just warm enough to get us excited about spring fashion, flowers, and bright colors. although the first day of spring still isn't for another 66 days… (who's counting!?) we are loving these fun pieces and we know you'll feel the same way... can't help but bring a smile to your face, right??

Our Best Dressed List #STYS

last night did not disappoint...it was not only an exciting night of fashion but we loved seeing jennifer lawrence win best supporting actress for american hustle, leo take home his first golden globe for the wolf of wall street, and 12 years a slave win best drama motion picture (so well-deserved). not to mention, bradley cooper looked insanely HOT as always in tom ford, matthew mcconaughey and his beautiful wife camila alves were just stunning (seriously, could you both be any more beautiful??) and but of course, we loved seeing our gal giuliana look more beautiful than ever in her lorena sarbu gown.

here are our favorites from the red carpet...

A (True) JCrew Wedding

while catching up on my go to blogs and websites this morning, i stumbled on r29's karley mackler wedding photos. i was pulled in immediately. i've always said that all i need for my future wedding is my best friend a.k.a. prince charming, a dress i love, a fully stocked bar, my fam & friends, and great music (live or dj... either/or). i want it to feel more like a get together with my nearest and dearest, rather than a big 'event'. not sure i need e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. when it comes to that big day. it's expensive and it can spiral into something that can have you and your loved ones with headaches. not saying that happens every time, but who hasn't heard stories of drama trauma and someone paying bills off because of their wedding?

anyway, without getting too into it because i don't want the ones who want the big, dream wedding to get p***ed off at me ;) and truth be told who knows maybe i'll end up with a huge kim k like wedding (highly doubtful tho) ... i loved everything about this (jcrew) wedding. the simplicity of it, the happiness and love visible in every photo, the cheese & bread, and the overall feel of laid back elegance.

i think when you look through the jcrew catalogue and hit the wedding pages, it's not anti-bride and bridesmaid but it definitely isn't like your typical wedding spread. i would describe it effortless & simple, but different and still very special. i think this is exactly what this is. this couple had a true jcrew wedding affair and i love everything about it. i prefer for little to no planning when it comes to weekend plans (some of the best nights out start with no plans) and life in general... and i feel like my wedding may just end up reflecting that later in life. cheers to the karley mackler wedding!

The Skinny Buddha

what could be more eye appealing than the silhouette of a backless silk flowing floor length dress of chartreuse, lavender and silver breezing its' way across the stage to the golden globe podium??

i see this lela rose, a dress inspired by the designer's trip to denmark, on lupita nyong'o of twelve years a slave...her character deserves to flow freely and be immortalized by her beauty.
